Course Title: Medication Workshop
Course length 3 hours

This course is aimed at all staff involved with administering medication.
The workshop looks at specific medication needs before participating in a practical session on medication administration. This will be set up as a ‘real life’ scenario and will involve role play and group interaction.
Following the workshop, case-based scenarios will be presented. The learners will then work in small groups and provide feedback to the rest of the attendees.
This short session provides the practical element to administering medication and also group work to identify specific areas of concern within medication administration.

Introduction and objectives for session
Set expectations for the session
Identify reasons for medication errors within the specific workplace of the delegates attending.
Specific medication needs
Look at the specific requirements for:
Oral medication
Topical medication
Ear/eye drops
This will include why specific directions for medication are important and the consequences if medication is not administered as directed.
Workshop / practical on medication administration
A practical session on medication administration, set up as a real scenario.
This will involve role play and group interaction.
Case based scenarios
Case based scenarios will be presented. Delegates to work in small groups to discuss the scenarios and provide feedback to the group.
