Course Title:  Immunisations and Vaccines Awareness 

Course length 2 Hours

Maximum number to attend, 20 – 60, up to 20 delegates per course  

This awareness course is designed for Registered Nurses only.

The course aims to provide an understanding of the safe practices with regard to immunisations and vaccines which will include the practicalities of administering an injection.

Learning Outcome & Assessment Criteria

Introduction

Review safe practice with regards to immunisation and vaccination programmes taking into account the National Minimum standards for immunisation 

To understand the principles of immunisation and vaccination including informed consent. 

Legislation

Recent epidemiology of vaccine preventable diseases

Any changes to the National Immunisation Schedule

Any changes to legislation relevant to vaccination

Anaphylaxis

Recognition and management

Practicalities

Giving the injection

Common/uncommon side effects

Storage / Yellow Card reporting

Questions and Answers

Question and answer session

At the end of the training session, there is a written assessment to evidence the learning of the attendees.
