Course Title: Basic ECG Interpretation

This course is designed for all staff who are involved in conducting and interpreting ECGs.

Introduction - Anatomy and Physiology
Understand:
Basic anatomy of the heart
Electrical conduction pathway of the heart
ECG Recording
Discuss:
the correct way to record an ECG
Indications and challenges
ECG Interpretation
Identify:
Normal heart rhythm
Abnormal heart rhythm
Discus the differences between:
Sinus Tachycardia and Ventricular Tachycardia
Atrial Fibrillation and Atrial Flutter
Identify:
Most common types of heart block
Detect abnormalities of potassium levels
Practical Session
Candidates will complete a test workbook – identifying different heart rhythms and providing rationale for decision
This workbook is to keep for future reference.
At the end of the training session, there is a written assessment to evidence the learning of the attendees.
