This course is aimed at all staff in health and social care.
At the end of the training session, there is a short-written assessment to evidence the learning of the attendees.

Introduction - The importance of Equality and Diversity
Explain what is meant by:
Diversity
Equality
Inclusion
Discrimination
Describe ways in which discrimination may deliberately or inadvertently occur in the work setting.
Explain how practices that support equality and inclusion reduce the likelihood of discrimination.
Racism and Discrimination
Discuss legislation and codes of practice discrimination apply to their own role.
Understand what is meant by the term racism
Describe how to challenge racism and discrimination in a way that encourages change.
Explain what constitutes:
Harassment
Stereotyping
Bullying
Victimisation.
Culture and Religion
Understand cultural and religious beliefs and how these can lead to misunderstandings. Communication
Understand different communication styles
Care Planning
Understand the full needs of the individual with regard to care planning, this will include (but not limited to):
Race
Religious and/or cultural needs
Access information and further support
List a range of sources of information, advice and support regarding racism and discrimination.
Explain who to ask for advice and support with regard to racism and discrimination.
