Course Title: Non-Invasive Ventilation (BPAP CPAP)

This course is aimed at all staff working within Health and Social Care who are responsible for the day-to-day care of an individual who requires non-invasive ventilation.
Non-invasive ventilation training ensures that staff have the correct theoretic knowledge and (if applicable) practical skills to provide optimum care and support for individuals in their care.
Learning Outcome & Assessment Criteria
Introduction Non-Invasive Ventilation
Basic anatomy and physiology of normal breathing
Understand what non-invasive ventilation is
BIPAP and CPAP
Understand what is:
BPAP
CPAP
Indications and contra-indications for use
Face masks:
Full face
Nasal
Care for the individual receiving non-invasive ventilation
Understand relevant safety checks
Discuss humidification
Observe for pressure area damage
Care of the equipment
Identify complications with non-invasive ventilation.
Discuss client monitoring and relevant documentation
PLEASE NOTE: If a practical demonstration is required, equipment will need to be made available on site. Training 2 Care are not able to provide equipment. If practical demonstration is booked – the course will be 3 hours.
