At Home Instead Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk, we are committed to providing exceptional care and empowering older adults to thrive while living at home with dementia. As part of this mission, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting The Virtual Dementia Tour Bus on Friday 23rd August 2024 , a mobile tour designed to raise awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by those living with dementia.
Who We Are
We have been providing ‘care at home’ services to the local community for 15 years. Our aim is to provide compassionate care and lifestyle support services to people who need some assistance to get the best out of life. We strive to help our clients maintain their independence, health and vibrancy in their later years.
Our Work in the Community
Home Instead has a commitment to providing services not just for our clients but also for the wider community. We host monthly dementia friendly screenings in partnership with the Everyman Cinema Harrogate which have been a great success. We train our Care Professionals in City and Guilds Assured Dementia training and our Director and Co-Owner Sheena Van Parys offers community workshops on dementia awareness and understanding
Why We're Hosting the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus
As part of our commitment to raising awareness and understanding of dementia, we have decided to host the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus. We want more of our Care Professionals to understand the challenges people with dementia face. A key part of what we do is work with other organisations to support our clients with dementia, so we invite them to come along to the experience.
The Virtual Dementia Tour Bus provides a unique and impactful opportunity for our employees and other professionals within our community to see first-hand what it's like to live with dementia. This level of training, which allows participants to put themselves in someone else's shoes, is invaluable and not something we get to showcase every day.
We are thrilled to host the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus and provide our employees and other professionals within the community with this eye-opening experience. It is our hope that this initiative will create greater understanding, empathy and support for those living with dementia and their loved ones.
