At Home Instead Eastbourne and Hailsham, we are committed to providing exceptional care and empowering older adults to thrive while ageing at home. As part of this mission, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting The Virtual Dementia Tour Bus on Monday 12th August, a mobile tour designed to raise awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by those living with dementia.
Who We Are
Rated 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission, Home Instead Eastbourne and Hailsham provides compassionate care and lifestyle support services to people who need some assistance to get the best out of life. We strive to help our clients maintain their independence, health and vibrancy in their later years.
Our Work in the Community
Home Instead has a commitment to providing services not just for our clients but also for the wider community. We host three monthly Community Cafes in Polegate, Hailsham and Willingdon, which provide dementia-friendly, informal sessions for older adults to socialise and connect with others. Our Director, Ian Cottrell, is a founding member, trustee and chairman of the Eastbourne Dementia Action Alliance and helped to set up the Eastbourne based SEA DEEP peer support group.
Home Instead Eastbourne and Hailsham has featured in the Guardian and on ITV news raising awareness of the issues that affect older people. Soraya, Ian’s wife and Owner & Director of Care at Home Instead Eastbourne and Hailsham, has presented at the Dementia 2020 Conference at the Royal Society of Medicine, sharing best practice examples of how we have helped our clients that live with dementia to have independent and fulfilling lives.
Why We're Hosting the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus
As part of our commitment to raising awareness and understanding of dementia, we have decided to host the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus. We want more of our Care Professionals to understand the challenges people with dementia face. A key part of what we do is work with other organisations to support our clients with dementia, so we invite them to come along to the experience.
The Virtual Dementia Tour Bus provides a unique and impactful opportunity for our employees and other professionals within our community to see first-hand what it's like to live with dementia. This level of training, which allows participants to put themselves in someone else's shoes, is invaluable and not something we get to showcase every day.
We are thrilled to host the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus and provide our employees and other professionals within the community with this eye-opening experience. It is our hope that this initiative will create greater understanding, empathy and support for those living with dementia and their loved ones.
