Course Title: Food Allergens Awareness

This course is aimed primarily at kitchen staff but can be attended by all staff.

The course will provide an awareness of food allergens.  Also included will be dietary requirements for Coeliac Disease, Gluten Free, Food Allergies and also Diabetes.

At the end of the course, there will be a short-written assessment to evidence the learning of the delegates.

Understand food labelling requirements

Specific Dietary Requirements

Discuss dietary requirements for:

Food Preparation

Understand how to prepare food safety and look at cross contact and risks of cross contamination.

Allergic Reactions

Understand signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction and how to respond.

Keeping your food allergic clients safe

Treatment of Anaphylaxis

Understand:

What is Epinephrine?

What are Adrenaline Auto Injectors

Jext auto injector

Epi Pen

Emerade

Demonstration of how to use the auto injector

Practical Session

If delivered via webinar – this element of the course will be demonstrated by the trainer.

Demonstrate the following:

Epi Pen / Jext Pen / Emerade

CPR

Recovery Position
