Course Title: Dyslexia Awareness 

Course length 3 hours

This course is aimed at all health and social care staff who may have responsibility for the day-to-day care and support of an individual with Dyslexia. 

This course will provide an understanding of the presentations and challenges for an individual with dyslexia.

At the end of the training session, there is a short-written assessment to evidence the learning of the attendees.

Understand the term ‘Specific Learning Difficulties’ (SLD)

Discuss the prevalence of dyslexia

Causes of Dyslexia

Identify potential causes of dyslexia

Signs of Dyslexia

Discuss the signs of dyslexia in the following age groups:

Preschool

Primary school

Secondary school

Adult

Diagnosing Dyslexia

Discuss screening tests for both adults and children.

Diagnosis dyslexia

Support and further information

Understand support available for individuals with dyslexia.

Discuss areas of support for further advice.
